South Philly's Mike Evans won an 8-round decision to win his main event bout over Tommy Cross at the Olympia Athletic Club. Evans cut his opponent over the

 

 
 

right eye and controlled the fight with his excellent left jab.

The card opened with the preliminary fight between Joey Belfiore and Guinas (Gene) Strickland. Joey made good by stopping Strickland at 1:27 of round three. Years later Belfiore became a renowned South Philly trainer who along with his brother Nick, ran the Juniper Street Gym.
