R&B Promotions returned to the 2300 Arena on Friday, August 7, with a five-bout professional card that featured two Philadelphia fighters earning decisions and a stoppage in the main event. Kurt Scoby closed the night with a fourth-round stoppage of Alfredo Blanco after repeatedly hurting the Argentine fighter with body shots. Philadelphia’s Nicole Fisher won her professional debut by unanimous decision over Jozette Cotton, while Justin Penaranda and Alex Marrero also earned decisions. Danny Gonzalez took a majority decision over Shaquille Rushing in the opening bout.

Kurt Scoby controlled the main event against Alfredo Blanco, eventually forcing Blanco’s corner to stop the fight at the end of the fourth round. Scoby first hurt Blanco with a body shot in the second round and scored a knockdown. Blanco immediately argued that the punches were low, but referee Shawn Clark did not agree. Scoby then found the target with a left hand that sent Blanco down again. Blanco continued to fight through the fourth round while repeatedly questioning the legality of Scoby’s body shots.

Clark warned Scoby, but most of the punches were clean and Scoby continued to find success. Scoby scored another knockdown in the fourth. Blanco made it back to his feet, but his corner stopped the fight at the end of the round.

RESULT: Kurt Scoby TKO4 Alfredo Blanco (3:00)
Welterweights - 8 Rounds

Scoby: 20-2, 18 KOs
Blanco: 24-17-1, 11 KOs

FISHER WINS DEBUT
Nicole Fisher made her professional debut against Jozette Cotton and earned a unanimous decision after four rounds. Cotton spent the fight applying steady pressure while Fisher worked to keep her at range with the jab. Cotton repeatedly switched from orthodox to southpaw and back, creating openings and forcing Fisher to make adjustments.

Cotton continued to press for exchanges while Fisher remained disciplined and looked to avoid the overhand right. Fisher limited the mistakes that could have changed the fight and finished her debut with the decision. Judges Tony Lundy and Robert Rubnitz scred the bout 40-36, while Paul Wallace had it 39-37, all for Fisher. The referee was Eric Dali.

RESULT: Nicole Fisher W4 (U) Jozette Cotton
Junior Middleweights - 4 Rounds
Fisher: 1-0, 0 KOs
Cotton: 0-5-1, 0 KOs

PENARANDA BLANKS DIAZ
Justin Penaranda controlled the distance early against Martin Diaz and built his advantage with consistent combinations. Penaranda’s body attack became a major part of the fight in the second round, forcing Diaz to cover up. Penaranda remained comfortable in the middle rounds and showed little concern about Diaz’s power.

In the fifth round, referee Shawn Clark ruled a low blow from Penaranda and gave Diaz a needed break before the action resumed. Penaranda went on to take a shutout decision (60-54) on all three scorecards.

RESULT: Justin Penaranda W6 (U) Martin Diaz
Welterweights - 6 Rounds
Penaranda: 5-0-1, 4 KOs
Diaz: 18-24-2, 8 KOs

MARRERO DEBUTS WITH SHUTOUT
Alex Marrero earned a unanimous decision over Rasuoid Holley in an active four-round bout. The fighters spent the early action probing with their jabs before the pace increased. Both were willing to exchange, but Marrero maintained control of the fight and consistently found the better position during the exchanges.

Marrero swept the scorecards to remain unbeaten on the night for Philadelphia. Judges Tony Lundy, Robert Rubnitz, and Paul Wallace, all scored the fight 40-36. The referee was Eric Dali.

RESULT: Alexander Marrero W4 (U) Rasuiod Hollie
Junior Featherweights - 4 Rounds
Marrero: 1-0, 0 KOs
Hollie: 1-4, 1 KO

GONZALEZ TOPS RUSHING

Danny Gonzalez opened the card with a majority decision over Shaquille Rushing after four rounds. Rushing worked from the outside early, forcing Gonzalez to chase him while Gonzalez continued to pressure and look for opportunities to trap him along the ropes. Gonzalez’s pressure became more effective in the second round as he began catching Rushing along the ropes and in the corners. He also added a body attack, slowing Rushing’s movement. Gonzalez appeared to hurt Rushing with a body shot midway through the round, but Rushing was able to move away and avoid a knockdown.

Rushing remained effective when he had room to move in the final two rounds, but Gonzalez’s pressure repeatedly put him in trouble when he was trapped along the ropes or in a corner. Gonzalez continued pressing until the final bell. Judges Robert Rubnitz and Mar Werlinsky scored the fight 39-37 for Gonzalez, while Tony Lundy saw the bout a 38-38 draw. Shawn Clark was the referee.

RESULT: Daniel Gonzalez W4 (M) Shaquille Rushing
Junior Welterweights - 4 Rounds

Gonzalez: 7-2-1, 6 KOs
Rushing: 0-12-1, 0 KOs
