After a close contest, Ellis won by majority decision and received the honorary King’s Promotions Heavyweight Belt. A third meeting would be justified based on the competitiveness of the first two fights. Judge Marcel Varela scored the fight for Madison (57-55), but was over-ruled by Steve Weisfeld (57-55) and Dewey LaRosa (58-54) who both favored Ellis. Ellis remained unbeaten (8-0-1, 3 KOs), while Madison, of Baltimore, dropped to 11-10-3, 7 KOs. The referee was Shawn Clark.
