After staging his inaugural promotion in Atlantic City, Danny Garcia presented his second professional show as a promoter at home, Saturday night at the 2300 Arena in South Philly. In the main event, local rising rookie star Johnny Rivera (3-0, 2 KOs) reached the top slot on the card after just two previous pro bouts. He won his third start by unanimous decision over Nelson Morales (4-15, 1 KOs), a Dominican fighting out of Scranton, PA. This was the first time Rivera had to go past round one and he won his first decision by three perfect scores of 40-36 by official judges Dewey LaRosa, Robert Rubnitz and Marc Werlinsky. Rivera weighed 147.75 and Morales was 154.5. The referee was Charlie Fitch. In the semi-final bout, Canadian junior welterweight Helmond Alekozai stopped Patrick Okine of Accra, Ghana. The scheduled eight-rounder ended after the sixth round when Okine surrendered in his corner. The time was 3:00 of the sixth. The referee was Eric Dali. Alekozai (14-0, 6 KOs) remained undefeated. Veteran Okline lost his third straight and left 21-8-2, 18 KOs. In a six-round junior welterweight fight, southpaw Mathew Gonzalez, Ridgewood, NY, scored a second round TKO over Benjamin Lamptey of Accra, Ghana, to earn his fourteenth win in fifteen fights. Referee Charlie Fitch stopped the fight in the corner before the third session began. The result was recorded as a TKO at 3:00 of round two. Gonzalez improved to 14-0-1, 9 KOs. Lamptey slipped to .500 at 14-14-4, 10 KOs. Philly-based Californian Diayaan Butt won his scheduled eight-round junior welterweight fight with Rondale Hubbert, Duluth, MN, in the first round. Butt dropped Hubbert twice before referee Eric Dali halted the fight at 2:59 of round one. It was Butt's eighth consecutive win and second straight knockout. He is now 18-2, 9 KOs. Journeyman Hubbert, a frequent visitor to Philly rings, fell to 16-32-3, 10 KOs, 1 No Contests. Philly middleweight Billy Briscoe Jr. won a four-round split decision over Philly-based Russian Soslan Alborov. Briscoe has been on a roll, winning four straight fights since 2023 (three times already this year), and finally staying consistently active in his budding career. He improved to 5-1-1, 3 KOs. Soslan slid to 1-3-1, 1 KO. DC welterweight Quincey Williams won his second pro fight (2-0, 2 KOs) with a quick knockout of Brooklyn's Jordan Drayton (0-2). Drayton did not get up from his second trip to the canvas and referee Eric Dali signaled the end of the fight at 1:34 of round one. In the opening bout of the night, Akron, Ohio's Tyshawn Denson won his fourth straight (4-0, 2 KOs) with a shutout victory over Josue Cuaran, a Colombian based in Stone Mountain, GA. Judges Dewey LaRosa, Robert Rubnitz, and Marc Werlinsky all saw the fight a 40-36 win for Denson. Cuaran remained winless (0-1-1). The referee was Eric Dali.
