MOORE TOPS JOHNSON

On this day in 1952, two of the smartest and most technically sound fighters in boxing history, Harold Johnson and Archie Moore, fought for the fourth time in their five-bout series.

1948 saw their first battle of wits, with Archie winning in 10 rounds. In September of 1951, Moore repeated with another decision victory. Three months later, Johnson would win his own 10-rounder on points. They would kickoff 1952 with their fourth battle - another decision in 10 for Moore.  The series would end in 1954 with Moore knocking Johnson out in the 14th, defending his World Light Heavyweight Title. That made it 4-1 for Archie.
